Quick start
Use SlintForge from Rust or C++
SlintForge is a desktop component library on Slint 1.18. Components are implemented once in .slint and consumed through the Rust and C++ SDKs.
NOTE SlintForge will be open-sourced on GitHub soon. The first release targets Windows x64, Slint 1.18.0 and the
fluentstyle.
Requirements
- Rust 1.98.0 (
x86_64-pc-windows-msvc) - C++: Visual Studio 2026 x64, CMake 3.21+, Slint 1.18.0 MSVC SDK
Import
import { ForgeWindow, ForgeCard } from "@slintforge";
export component App inherits ForgeWindow {
title: "Hello SlintForge";
ForgeCard { }
}
Rust: call slintforge_build::configure_style() in build.rs and pass style_include_paths() to CompilerConfiguration; call slintforge::configure_rendering(Default::default())? before the first window.
C++: use the CMake package and slintforge_target_sources(); call forge_configure_rendering() before the first window.
Services
Some components need host services, bound before the window is shown: widget services (QR, highlighting, suggestions), grid services, plot services, flow services and capture service — bind_*! in Rust, forge_bind_* in C++. All UI work happens on the UI thread; use slint::invoke_from_event_loop from background threads. ForgeFlow requires the Skia renderer.
License
SlintForge is planned for a GPL-3.0-only release, but its public repository is not open yet. Review the actual SlintForge and Slint license terms before use.
